Barcelona Day One

I arrived here about 7 AM and I was beyond exhausted. I caught the blue aerobus and tried my very best to follow the directions provided to me by the hostel ladies. But, I didn't know how to read the street signs and I couldn't for the life of me find my way. So, after attempting to get here on my own, I got in a taxi and ask him to drive me here. Yes! He took me two blocks to the left and dropped me off. I didn't care. It was the best waste of 5 euros i have spent so far.

The hostel is nice. It is clean and I have my own room. The balcony overlooks other apartments or housing of some sort. But I have a cute little place to sit.
I took a quick nap (four hour power nap) and then got up and roamed around the city a bit. I walked down the Ramblas. It is as amazing as everything I read about on the internet. It has all sorts of flower stands, open markets, people galore and bars and restaurants everywhere. It was filled with the most beautiful people I have seen in my life. I mean it. Every woman was gorgeous and every man amazing. Spain has the patent on beauty.

I tried not to wander too much today because I didn't want to get lost and not find my way back. I would stay on the Ramblas and then venture off a little down an ally, making sure that I retraced all my steps. I spent a considerable amount of time today following these two gorgeous looking men down an ally. I just wanted to watch them interact with others. I was suprised by the woman they would give second glances to. I suspect with so many beautiful woman to see, that they only care to look at the plain ones? I wasn't sure. I lost them in a crowd and wandered somewhere else.

The people in general here aren't overly friendly. I have been to places where you are seen as sort of novalty, and I think here, probably in all of Europe (and perhaps in in North America) tourism is such a common practice that no one is overly interested in where you came from. But, aside from their aloof-ness, it is very interesting.

I have posted some pictures of the sites I have seen today. The market was incredible. I don't know the names of the building I took snapshots of, but I am posting anyway. Tomorrow, I plan to be the tourist of the year and get all I can out of Barcelona. As it is much like San Francisco (and not really my cup of tea size wise) I will travel south for a bit and find smaller villages to inhabit. At least that is my plan right now (and I am making it with one jack and coke under my belt).
